Yarra Valley Water managers volunteer at Wollert Community Farm’s indigenous plant nursery

April 22, 2026

A group of managers from Yarra Valley Water (YVW)’s Asset & Field Services division recently volunteered their time at Wollert Community Farm, supporting work in the Indigenous plant nursery, nugal biik plants and seeds.

For many, it was their first visit to the site since stage one infrastructure was completed. The group was keen to see the progress and gain a better understanding of the activities taking place across the farm.

On the day, the team helped pin weed matting around the outer edge of the nursery. This work helps reduce weed pressure on adjacent plants and minimise ongoing maintenance.

Many hands make light work. With a keen and capable group, the task was completed quickly.

Yarra Valley Water supports staff in volunteering with community organisations for one day per year. Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) and the farm greatly value this contribution and the ongoing partnership.

Thank you to Sev Darwell and Lauren Marc, who share the Community Farm Partnerships Manager role, for organising the group.

WCC also offers corporate volunteering opportunities at Wollert Community Farm and the Food Collective. Visit our website to learn more.
