driverED is a professional driving school designed for communities experiencing barriers to getting their driving licence.
Who we work with
We provide a tailored service for organisations and programs that support clients experiencing transport disadvantage, including:
- Migrant & refugee settlement services
- Family services, including Parent Pathway programs
- Employment mentoring programs, including Workforce Australia
- Transport Accident Commission (TAC) L2P programs
- Youth-focussed initiatives.
Why we are different
We remove barriers for learner drivers to obtain their driving test due to language, income, or a limited understanding of Australia's road laws and regulations by:
- Delivering culturally safe lessons in multiple languages
- Our 90% female instructor workforce
- Working alongside caseworkers to provide a supportive learner driver environment
- Providing additional reporting to meet organisation's requirements
- Operating as a certified social enterprise.
Location
driverED operates across the outer northern suburbs of Melbourne, covering the local government areas of Whittlesea, Nillumbik, Merri-bek and Hume.
What we deliver
We deliver lessons 6am to 9pm, 7 days per week. Our modern vehicles are dual controlled and fully insured.
Our services include:
- Staged driving lessons (automatic only)
- Road structures, laws and ethics
- Refresher courses
- Test simulation and support
- Overseas license conversion support
- Client check-ins and links to additional social support services

Our purpose
We partner with community-focused organisations and services that are working with migrant, refugee and humanitarian entrants who require driving lessons for employment, economic empowerment, and connection.
More than just a driving school, as a certified social enterprise we support migrant and refugee people to start their own business as certified driving instructors, offering real income alongside tailored coaching and support.

Our instructors
Our experienced instructors are fully certified to instruct driving across all levels and have the following certifications and training:
- Driving Instructor Authority (DIA)
- Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport – Car Driving Instruction)
- Police & Working with Children Checks
- Child Safe training
- Family Violence training
Our instructors are fluent in English and can deliver driving lessons in Kurdish, Arabic, Farsi, Hindi, Somali, Kashmir and Russian.
