Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) started in 1973 as a small volunteer-run organisation operating from a solicitors office upstairs in Lalor. Since then the organisation has grown to employ over 30 staff and 300 volunteers who work together to address the needs of individuals and groups facing disadvantage, isolation and obstacles to effective social and economic participation. Gender Equity and Family Violence Lead
A leadership role in a dynamic place based community organisation in Melbourne’s outer north working to ensure that women achieve equitable life outcomes and are safe from violence. This role leads and coordinates WCC’s activities across the spectrum from response to primary prevention in collaboration with key partners and stakeholders. The Lead initiates the development of programs that advance WCC’s strategic priorities and outcomes in relation to gender equity including establishing and enhancing partnerships, links to community and networks to maximise coordination and impact, contribute to the development and growth of WCC services or programs, provide expert advice to WCC and to inform broader advocacy and policy reform. The Lead will manage a multidisciplinary Gender Equity and Family Violence team and strengthen FV practice standards and gender equity activities across the organisation.
