WCC Welcomes Federal Leaders to Showcase Local Settlement and Employment Initiatives

February 20, 2026

Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) recently welcomed Matt Thistlethwaite, Assistant Minister for Immigration, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Federal Member for Kingsford Smith.

The visit was an opportunity to showcase our place-based approach to settlement and employment pathway programs. At WCC, we work closely with local communities to support people from refugee and migrant backgrounds to build skills, improve confidence and access meaningful employment opportunities.

Our programs respond to local needs and focus on practical support, partnerships and long-term outcomes.

We thank our local Member of Parliament, Andrew Giles, Minister for Skills and Training, for organising the visit and for his ongoing support of community-led initiatives.

WCC remains committed to supporting inclusive pathways that help people thrive in the communities they call home.
