Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) recently welcomed local Federal MP Andrew Giles to learn more about Parent Pathways and meet some of the parents participating in the program.
Parent Pathways is a free and voluntary support service funded by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR). The program helps parents and carers of young children identify and achieve their personal, study and employment goals through tailored support and guidance.
During his visit, Andrew met parents who are currently building their English language and digital skills while their young children participated in activities provided by WCC’s Women in Work social enterprise.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the positive impact Parent Pathways is having in the local community, helping parents build confidence, develop new skills and connect with pathways to education and employment.
One recent success story saw a Parent Pathways participant secure employment with Women in Work, demonstrating the strength of WCC’s integrated approach to supporting people into meaningful opportunities.
We thank Andrew Giles for taking the time to visit and learn more about the program, and we acknowledge the dedication of our Parent Pathways team, Suraj, Farah and Norma, whose work continues to support parents and carers across our community.
