Grow to Give

At Melbourne Polytechnic’s Epping campus, we’ve set up our food relief supermarket and this year opened our door to food-insecure members of the community who are able to come in and choose some food for the week.

Already, some community members have already been donating fresh food from their gardens (plums, apples, spinach and more!)– and we’ve been passing this on to clients.

Additionally, some local primary schools and community houses are on board to grow food for the Food Collective in their community gardens. The food collective wants to expand this project and we’ve given it the name – ‘Grow to Give’!

If you or your community has good-quality excess produce from gardens, farm and businesses – then please get in touch with us!

Any food is greatly appreciated – especially some of the more exciting foods, like chillies and herbs. We are also on the hunt for dry packaged foods from households.

Also! If you know of any grocery stores or growers and farmers in your community who might donate fresh food/ please reach out to them or let us know!

Food can be dropped off at the Food Collective Wednesday and Friday mornings (this is while the supermarket is open, that way the food is fresh and we know that staff/volunteers will be around), or otherwise get in contact with us at contact@foodcollective.org.au.
