Jobs Advocates

Looking for work can be hard and sometimes it’s difficult to know where to start. The right advice at the right time can make a big difference.

Our team of Jobs Advocates are out and about in communities throughout the City of Whittlesea. They are meeting with people in community spaces such as libraries, public housing foyers, sports clubs and shopping centres. They are sharing their knowledge and resources about finding a job. If you need some support, we’re here for you.

How a Jobs Victoria Advocate can help you?
If you’re looking for work, Jobs Victoria Advocates can:

  • Refer you to a local Jobs Victoria Partner who can help you update your resume, prepare for job interviews, and connect you with local employers
  • Connect you to local skills and training opportunities through Work and Learning Centres, TAFE Skills and Jobs Centres, and apprenticeship programs
  • Help you apply for jobs in your local area through the Jobs Victoria online hub.

We also host a range of programs and sessions every month to help job seekers in our community. These sessions are designed to help community members to access relevant information. Please mail jobadvocates@whittleseacc.org.au for more information

Employment Support

WCC’s Specialist Employment Service is available to Victorian residents living in Whittlesea and surrounding suburbs who have been unemployed for more than 6 months or face employment barriers. The service supports people from migrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to employment. The program works intensely with both Jobseekers and Employers. Jobseekers get one on one assistance to create an Employment pathway, which includes help navigating the Australian work culture, interview skills and connections with employment opportunities. The main focus is on developing new skills and building confidence to attain sustainable employment.

This program is supported by Jobs Victoria. Jobs Victoria supports people looking for work and connects employers with the staff they need -in person, online, and on the phone. Learn more at jobs.vic.gov.au.
