Our Purpose Whittlesea Community Connections Inc. is a not for profit incorporated association established to provide services for the relief of poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability, destitution or helplessness within the City of Whittlesea. Whittlesea Community Connections Inc. promotes the principles of equity, access and community participation through direct support and assistance, information and referral, the delivery of targeted programs and advocating for social change in the area.
Our Aims
To provide emergency financial relief by the provision of cash payments and other direct assistance and support to those suffering poverty, distress, destitution and helplessness. To provide a free and readily accessible legal service to people who live in the City of Whittlesea and surrounding areas and particularly to those who would not otherwise have access to legal assistance. To provide legal education in the community to increase the understanding that residents of the City of Whittlesea and surrounding areas have of laws and legal processes and of their rights and obligations under the law. To provide direct support to those new migrants and refugees who through poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability, destitution or helplessness are disadvantaged in their access to services and programs, including where appropriate referrals to mainstream services. To work with, support and train volunteers in order to achieve the aims of the organisation and to provide the residents of the City of Whittlesea an opportunity to work towards the relief of poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability, destitution or helplessness within their community. To ensure that individuals and groups have equal access to information, referral and advice about their rights and responsibilities and the services available to them. To work with the City of Whittlesea Council and other not-for-profit community organisations to advocate for the provision of services which would be beneficial to alleviate poverty and distress within the community. To work in conjunction with other community organisations, agencies and services in the pursuit of these objectives and in particular the alleviation of poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability, destitution or helplessness caused by inappropriate drug and alcohol use and addiction; homelessness; excessive debt burdens and poor health.
