Housing Brokerage Project

Our Housing Brokerage and Support Project is fighting homelessness in the City of Whittlesea and helping those who are struggling to have a stable and secure roof over their heads.

Housing stress is a growing problem especially for those who are already disadvantaged such as women escaping family violence, people with mental health issues, and newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers.

By providing interest-free loans to assist people into private rental (such as covering bond or the first month's rent) our project is not only preventing homelessness but also providing people with one-on-one support to navigate the rental process and address other issues that might be impacting their lives and making it hard to find long-term housing. This means more time to focus on securing employment, attending English classes, and accessing other social and wellbeing supports.
