Volunteering in Bushfire Recovery

Bushfire Recovery Coordinators of Volunteering

Whittlesea Community Connections received funding to provide a Bushfire Recovery Volunteer Resource Service for 12 months in the City of Whittlesea. Two workers began working with fire affected communities in August, 2009 and are based fulltime in the Whittlesea Community Hub.

These positions have been established to support and resource volunteer led organisations as well as to develop and undertake projects in partnership with bushfire affected communities that involve community participation through volunteering in bushfire recovery efforts.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers played an essential and enormous part in the immediate aftermath of the Victorian bushfires in February 2009. Bushfire affected people, communities and agencies are very grateful for the help given and offers of help received in response to the disaster.

Many volunteers are continuing to assist people with the recovery and rebuilding process and still need your help.

The Whittlesea Community Connections want to hear from individuals and groups who are interested in helping with community recovery projects in the Whittlesea and Kinglake Ranges areas.
