Settlement Services support new arrival migrants and refugees in the early stages of arriving in Australia. WCC also recognise that settlement can sometimes be a long-term process and we are flexible in meeting the needs of migrant and refugee communities living in Whittlesea. Settlement Services provide individual casework and group activities to assist new arrivals develop the confidence and skills to participate more fully in the broader community. Casework support responds to priority community needs and includes:
Arabic speaking settlement support worker - Arabic is the largest language group for new arrivals settling in Whittlesea;
Settlement Youth Worker - young people under the age of 19 represent a significant proportion of all new arrivals in Whittlesea;
Family support - for migrants and refugees experiencing complex and multiple needs;
Support - for new and emerging communities with limited social support networks.
Referrals can be made by contacting us on 9401 6666. Caseworkers speak relevant community languages and interpreting services can be accessed for all other languages. Outreach services can also be arranged to ensure accessibility to the service.
